About Us

Vero’s Cakes is a fully black owned independent bakery with experience in baking of assorted cakes, muffins, cookies and biscuits.

Vero’s Cakes started its first commercial operation in a small makeshift garage in 2004 with little capital and few staff made up of mainly family members. Today, Vero’s Cakes has grown into a flourishing bakery business with an increasingly growing clientele.

From the very words of the Veronica Shezi, the CEO and owner of the company Vero’s Cakes was conceived out of my passion to bake cakes that would appeal to a constantly growing market”.

With a large number of small businesses failing within the very first year of their operations in South Africa; Vero’s cake has stood the test of time.

In 2008, Vero’s Cake opened its very first head office in Randburg Johannesburg and has continued to attract wide range of clients – from celebrities to thought leaders, captains of industries, young and old, or cake lovers who just want to have a taste of the delicious cakes we bake every single day.

“With an average of fifty customers per month in 2004; Vero’s Cakes now attracts an average of five hundred customers monthly”.

Following the successes of the Randburg head office, Vero’s cakes took a big leap in 2013 when it opened another branch in Randburg Central Business District. The new office was acquired to serve as the company’s production outfit, tailor made to meet our growing demands.

Vero’s Cakes has also diversified from baking only cakes to other delicious products such as scones, jam tarts, muffins, cookies and biscuits. Today, Vero’s Cakes has grown her workforce and is able to operate daily.

At Vero’s Cakes, we continue to adopt employment systems that directly empower women and the unemployed, adhering to international ethical workplace codes of conduct and also transferring relevant skills that will help tackle unemployment among young women in South Africa.

Despite being a small business, we have developed operational systems that are structured to meet health and safety standards and best practices. From our strict adherence to occupational health and safety standards, to our commitment to using only products that have been certified as healthy; Vero’s Cakes is also committed to a culture of continuous improvement to ensure that we satisfy our growing customers.

With an ambitious expansion plan in the works, Vero’s Cakes continue to inspire millions of women across South Africa and is determined to make a real and sustainable difference through dedication, passion and hard work.
